What to do/see in Nitra?

I’m planning a day trip to Nitra (part of a longer trip to Bratislava), as I’ve heard it’s one of Slovakia’s most historic cities (also one of the closer ones to Bratislava). Looking for some tips for what to see/do outside the most well known attractions(castle,…). Thanks and…

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Zobor Monastery Ruins for its hidden historical charm and peaceful, natural setting. The free entry, informative panels, and family-friendly interactive games are frequently highlighted. However, some note the lack of accessibility and occasional poor mobile signal.

"Amazing and quite well hidden history of the city. Most people bypass this place on their way up to the radio tower, but to truly undertand Nitra you need to visit the Zobor Monastery. It's a quick bus ride from the city center right opposite Tesco, and takes about 25 minutes to thelast stop "Zoborská Nemocnica", when you get off you back track a little down a slope and follow the signs. It's so rare for buildings like these to get another chance, since for decades this place had been in a catastrophic state. There are explanation boards all around the place, and no ticket stands! Be respectful when visiting it's still a church ❤️"

"TV Tower, Nice to walk, good exercise, unfortunately coffee shop was not open up to 10hrs."

"Zoborský Monastery is located in the immediate vicinity of the health resort, which is relatively easy to access through the forest. There are navigation boards available that provide information about tourist attractions, routes and their total duration. The ruins of the Monastery itself offer very interesting architectural treasures, and you will also find a space reserved for mass, with the possibility of sitting on several benches. The place is ideal for every lover of history and clean, well-maintained nature that surrounds you on all sides. Information boards with photographs also bring interesting knowledge from the past, which every visitor will appreciate. The area also includes various games that can be tried for free, and a few meters away there is a children's sandbox. The place definitely caught my attention, it had a very pleasant and calming impression on me. If the weather is nice, I definitely recommend a trip to this unique place and I would be happy to return here in the near future. Access is not barrier-free and there are also problems with poor mobile signal quality. Which is understandable, given the area. Entry and movement within the entire area is free, and there is also a small information booth."
