What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Uhrovec Castle is a beautiful, less-crowded medieval ruin offering stunning views and a rewarding hike. While parts are under renovation, the accessible sections are well-preserved and the journey up is considered worth the effort, especially with the bonus of a refreshing drink available. The challenging ascent is a key factor for visitors.
"Uhrovec Castle is a picturesque medieval ruin of defensive castle located in the Strazov Mountains of Slovakia. It is accessible from village Uhrovske Podhradie. Distance from village to the castle is only 1.5 km, but very steep incline. There is also access by gravel forest road. This incline is easy to moderate and the distance is 3.5 km. The castle itself is in "good" condition if you compare with other ruins in Slovakia. The preservation work is in (very slow) progress. It is beautiful and interesting, and not very busy because it is less known and access is somewhat complicated. But definitely worth the visit! If you like to hike in the forest and hills then take time to explore surrounding area."

"A great place to visit. You have to be reasonably fit to access the castle but it’s worth it. And they serve pivo there!"
