"Carpaccio Square is named after the famous Italian painter V. Carpaccio. His house from the 14th century stands next to the square. Famous buildings in this part include the Taverna, the fountain, the Column of St. Justine and the Almerigotti Palace. The Taverna is a former salt warehouse, which was also called the Warehouse of St. Mark. The Taverna probably stood at the beginning of the 17th century.
