"If you definitely want to go and want to use the funicular then buy your tickets in advance, you'll save money. We spent €19 on the ticket for a return funicular ride and entrance to the exhibits. The best bit was the tower and 4D virtual film which gave us a bit of history. We only used the funicular because of the rain but if not would have preferred to walk. We found €19 to be a bit steep to be honest but glad we went nonetheless."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Encourage kids to explore the castle grounds and imagine themselves as knights or princesses. The open spaces are great for them to run around. Consider walking up the hill together as a family adventure, or opt for the funicular for a quick ascent. Pack snacks and water, as exploring can take a few hours.
🚶 Budget Travelers
Consider packing your own snacks and drinks to enjoy on the castle grounds, rather than purchasing from the onsite cafes or restaurants, which can be pricier. Visiting during off-peak hours might also lead to slightly lower ticket prices for certain attractions, though this is not always the case.
📸 Photography Enthusiasts
Experiment with different angles and perspectives. The contrast between the ancient stone and the modern city skyline is a recurring theme. Be mindful of any restrictions on photography within specific indoor exhibits, but generally, the exterior and views are prime subjects.
