Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Slovenian Alpine Museum for its in-depth look at Slovenian mountaineering history and impressive Himalayan achievements. The helpful and enthusiastic staff, along with the convenient rental facilities for bikes and climbing gear, are frequently highlighted as positives. However, some visitors noted that many exhibits were not accessible to English speakers and that some interactive displays were not functioning.

"An excellent museum, full of interesting information about Slovenian alpinism and mountaineering in the Himalaya. I had read a fair bit about Slovenian mountaineers and learned so much more here. Also lots of information about mountain life and culture over the years.
You can sense the level of pride in mountaineering achievements and local mountains. It's hard to decide who are the most hardcore - Slovenian or Polish climbers! Never the easy routes, always new or hard routes.
The guy on the desk when we visited was so helpful, enthusiastic and friendly and a real pleasure to meet.
I would recommend anyone with even a passing interest in the mountains to visit this place."

John Carmichael

"The Slovenian Alpine Museum exceeded my expectations! The tour is thematic, the visitor is first introduced to the mountains, mountaineering, climbing, alpinism and to the flora and fauna. Then there is a section about the human activities in the mountains all the way to the modern era and tourism/sports. The best parts are the bivouac with a storm simulator, the mountain rescuers' section and the section with notable mountaineering achievements. There is also an interactive game for kids (and grown up kids alike ;) ). Secure yourself at least one hour for this museum, 2 hours if you want to go thoroughly... The staff were helpful, the souvenir shop has nice items, parking ticket is included in the museum ticket and the Mojstrana Via Ferrata is just 5 minutes away :) Overall grade 10/5."

Vanja Zvonar

"A disappointing museum.
I would expect more interactive exhibits, especially since this is a action based museum ( climbing).

Many exhibits didn't work and almost all were not accessable to English speakers.

Extremely disappointing.
Not worth the time or money.
It was so pointless that I didn't even bother taking pictures."
