Ticket Price & Value

The Vogel Cable Car ticket price of €33 can feel steep, but consider what's included: the ride up, a chairlift at the top, and parking. Many find the hiking opportunities and stunning alpine scenery justify the cost, especially if you plan to spend several hours exploring. Reddit

Best Views & Expectations

While the cable car offers incredible mountain vistas, direct views of Lake Bohinj are limited to the journey itself or a small platform near the exit. For expansive lake panoramas, consider viewpoints closer to the water. The summit is primarily for hikers and mountain lovers. Reddit

Vogel Ski Resort Slovenia. This cable car (gondola) is the only way to get up and down the mountain. Personally I’m scared of heights but I got through it regularly for 5 days to the point I could stand at the window and make this video 😎 #vogelskiresort #vogelskicenter #vogel #slovenia #julianalps #bohinj #igslovenia #skiing #triglavnationalpark #springskiing #julijskealpe #mountains #snow #skis...

Calling all Hikers! 🥾✨️⛰️ 📍Mount Vogel, Julian Alps, Slovenia 🇸🇮 This is one of the most beautiful hikes I've done out of the UK! The views are incredible and if you just want a little walk you can get the cable car to the top and back down again rather than hike down We were lucky with the weather on the mountain and it actually thunderstormed once we got back to our Airbnb 😅 it's quite unpr...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Vogel Cable Car for its stunning alpine views and convenient access to hiking trails, with the included chairlift being a bonus. However, many find the ticket price of €33 to be quite high, and some express disappointment with the limited direct views of Lake Bohinj from the summit. Reddit+1

"Vogel Cable Car – the most breathtaking ride in the Julian Alps (May 2, 2025)

From the moment the cabin leaves Ukanc and starts climbing above the treetops, you’re floating over the endless emerald mirror of Lake Bohinj, with the tiny red-roofed church of St John on the far shore and the snow-capped peaks of Triglav National Park rising all around. Ten minutes later you step out at 1535 m into a completely different world: wildflower meadows, grazing cows with bells, and 360-degree panoramas that make you gasp out loud. In spring the contrast is unreal – deep blue water far below, fresh green slopes, and still-white summits. The ride itself is worth the trip to Bohinj; everything you do up top is pure bonus. Don’t miss it, whatever the season!"

"Highly recommend in the summer! At first I thought it was a bit expensive at €33 per person (slightly less for seniors), but you can park for free and there is so much to do at the top. Once at the top, you can access another chair lift and gondola as part of your ticket. There are plenty of places to eat, toilets, and lots of hiking options. And not surprisingly, the views are incredible!

Practical info. We arrived around 9:30a on a Wednesday in late August. We did not have any trouble finding parking (someone directs you on where to park). The gondola seemed to be running every 15 minutes and usually is pretty full. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the top.

Once back at the bottom, we walked to lake Bohinj which was less than 10 minutes."

"The ride is very convenient, since it brings you up to a very good spot for many of the hikes.
The views (especially on the lake) are amazing.
The cable car is well maintained and the stuff is polite and helpful.

But, the price is too high.
33 euros for a ride up and down is just too much.
Also, even if you pay the ticket, there aren't any free toilets in the valley, which is unacceptable."
