What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Green Point Lighthouse for its historical significance and the stunning panoramic views from its summit, accessible for a small fee. The adjacent Mouille Point Promenade is a highlight for its scenic beauty, perfect for walks and sunset appreciation, though vigilance against pickpockets is advised.
"The entrance to the building definitely needs attention, especially the flags. That was, however, the only issue I had. The lady at the reception was very kind. Access to the main lighthouse costs R20, which is absolutely worth it. As you pass through the corridor, you are met with two glass cabinets containing multiple objects of interest. The wooden stairs are easy to climb for the first two stories, though the upper level can be difficult for some to access as it requires you to climb a steep set of stairs. You do need to watch your head as well. You then have amazing panoramic views of Green Point and the Atlantic. This is also the oldest operating lighthouse in Africa so it is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area."
