Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Idiom Wines for its breathtaking views, exceptional food, and high-quality wines. The wine and pasta pairing is a standout experience, and the knowledgeable staff, particularly sommeliers, significantly enhance the visit. While generally a positive experience, some may find it a bit pricey, and booking is essential for popular times.

"We are so lucky to have this great restaurant just around the corner. It’s always impeccable. From the wine tot the food and the service. We were treated so some blind tasting at the table as an experiment. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and learned us new things about their Pinotage, which is very good (2019 vintage).
And a special note to the springbok tartare starter that I tried for the first time: it’s delicious (as the rest!)."

"What an absolutely breathtaking experience! Idiom Restaurant is truly a rare gem perched high on the mountainside, offering spectacular views that make you feel like you've stepped into a postcard. The setting is not only beautiful but also incredibly unique—perfect for anyone looking to escape into nature with a touch of elegance.

We had the pleasure of doing the wine and pasta pairing, and it was nothing short of amazing. Each wine was thoughtfully selected and paired perfectly with the beautifully presented pasta dishes. The flavors were rich, refined, and showcased the creativity of the kitchen in the most delightful way.

A special mention must go to our server, Kyle. He was incredibly knowledgeable, well-spoken, and attentive throughout. His professionalism and passion for what he does elevated our entire experience. We’d love to personally thank him for his excellent service—he truly exceeded all our expectations.

We may have only just discovered Idiom Restaurant, but we’ll definitely be returning soon. Wishing Kyle all the best on his journey ahead—your remarkable service didn’t go unnoticed!"

"Great lunch (again) at Idiom: very consistent quality of food, service and wine.
The Cape C blend was decanted in a spectacular way and gave the 2019 vintage the extra power and layering in taste. Definitely worth the price.
The complimentary bread course was almost a full starter and just delicious: fresh bread, cheese, nuts and preserves.
The burger with fries is according to my partner ‘the best burger in the winelands (and he did his homework ;) The beef fillet was very well presented and served with a delicate sauce and garnish. Not just your average steak, very good.
Our waiter Sam contributed to the total experience of the lunch with great service: attentive, friendly and just as much as you would like. And he makes a mean cup of coffee to finish a perfect lunch!"
