Farewell landed within the natural harbour, close to the park's current location, with an escort of a handful of settlers. The port was to be a British resupply port for ships journeying to The Raj, as well as a collection point for inland ivory trade. Albeit a landmark of colonial affiliation, the park is still an important remembrance for those initial settlers."
