What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find the Giriyondo Border Gate crossing to be a pleasant and efficient experience, often noting the helpfulness of the officials. However, travelers should be prepared for potentially challenging gravel road conditions and ensure all their documentation is meticulously in order, especially when using rental vehicles.
"I was the only traveler passing through this border post, and all the officials were exceptionally friendly and helpful. On the Mozambique side, there is a required park fee, and I was also charged 35% of the value of the two jerry cans I had on my roof rack."
Dawid Booysen
"We went to see what the border post look like between Kruger national park (SA) and Mozambique. This is a very nice border post. Not busy at all and very helpful staff. Please ensure you have all your paperwork like passport, vehicle docs and visas depending on the country of origin. The gravel road is not in the best state, almost the entire strech form the main road is corigated. This piece of dirt road is about 24km long to the border post, from the main road between Mopani and Letaba rest camps in Kruger national park."
Gerrie Engelbrecht
"Absolutely pleasure to use the border post. Make sure about your times. Ground road on Mozambique side is suitable for 2x4 if you are brave enough."
