"Cape Recife Lighthouse is a beautifully maintained historical site that offers a truly memorable experience. The stunning views of the ocean from the top are absolutely worth it. Visitors should note that there is an entry fee to access the top of the lighthouse. Inside, there’s a cozy café with a small but delightful selection of cakes and drinks, perfect for a quick treat. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply love breathtaking ocean views, this lighthouse is a must-visit destination."

"We hiked the Roseate Tern trail. Opted to park inside which requires a permit that can be obtained at Pine Lodge right at the entrance to the reserve. Note that the price has gone up from approximately R78 to about R109. I don't know why but they would only accept cash. Be sure to have enough on you as one would typically not carry much on a hike. The permit is per vehicle and allows you access for 7 days.
We started our hike on the beach about 500 meters from the SANCCOB building. You can start your hike inland if you prefer. Roughly half of the hike was along the shoreline and lighthouse. There is a red arrow indicating where the trail goes inland (pointed towards the direction of the lighthouse, probably for those starting the hike inland). You'll hike through fynbos for a while before crossing a narrow road and here is where the hike takes you to the old World War 2 army barracks and lookout post. This was a highlight with stunning views. There are some steep inclines from there. Nothing difficult but you'll have to watch your step. From there you'll reach the dam and hideout. It's an easy circular trail and a fantastic way to spend 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Highly recommend."
