What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kammabaai is widely praised as a beautiful and versatile beach, perfect for families, surfers, and whale watchers. Visitors love its clean sand, stunning views, and the convenience of nearby vendors. Some find it can get very crowded during peak season, and parking can be a challenge.
"Gorgeous waves for surfing, body boarding and swimming. Beautiful views. Stunning sunsets. Perfect beach for all ages to build sand castles, play beach bats and watch the waves breaking. Rock pools included…!"
Mignon van Vreden
"Best beach in my opinion on this Hermanus stretch, surf launching allowed on the right, dogs and swimming on the left with rocks that enclose the area to ease current and waves, a great beach for kids and pets (dog friendly) and a good coffee vendor in the car park."
Rene Winter
"If you are looking for a great spot to go swimming or just to have a relaxing day on the beach, then make a trip to Kammabaai. The beach cannot accommodate as many people as Grotto Beach (main beach in Hermanus) and it has cliffs on both sides, making it more private and the waters' a bit calmer. However it is a very popular spot during peak season so make sure you arrive early or else you won't find any parking available. It's great for the whole family as it's basically divided into two smaller bays with some rocks in between where the children like to climb around. It's relatively shallow closer to shore if you just want to wade around, but you can go deeper in if you want to swim - there are also some nice waves for surfers. During peak season there are also lifeguards on duty. This has become my favorite beach in the area and I am sure it will continue to be."
