What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Montagu Springs Resort offers a nostalgic and generally relaxing experience, particularly for families, with its pools and natural surroundings. While many guests appreciate the self-catering chalets and friendly staff, some older units are noted to be in need of maintenance and upgrades. Connectivity issues and the lack of certain amenities like towels and dish soap are recurring points of feedback.
"Hi there, me and wify and kids came to montagu springs years ago for probably 3 years back to back. Over the years you go to different places and then the kids gets bigger and then it's university and stuff and other expensive. I always told wify that we had such great times and experiences i always want to go back in the future and i think the time has come. We look forward to seeing you soon 🙂👍"

"We booked a two bedroom Plettenberg chalet for a midweek breakaway. It was very relaxing.
Kitchen is well equipped and includes a drying cloth and a little bit of dishwashing liquid, kind of enough for 2 to 3 days. Bring your own wiping cloth and scourer.
We couldn't figure out the TV 😂 and couldn't be bothered to ask for help.
Telkom signal was very weak on the first day and nonexistent the rest of the time.
Guests can get 1GB data PER DEVICE for free, but the WiFi is VERY spotty 🥴.
Mattresses were very good and bedding clean.
In the bathroom, there was a slit (gap) in the floor and we thought that a heavier kind of person could probably put his foot through the floor there if not careful.
The chalet info says to lock doors and windows for safety, but several of our chalet's windows couldn't lock at all, so anyone could just slide open the window and get in... Unsettling to say the least...
The grounds are well maintained and the nearby hike in the kloof is beautiful. We enjoyed observing the dassies, which are all over, but mind their own business. The playground looks fresh and safe.
We enjoyed the warm and the cold pool. There's no shower at the pools. The ladies toilet had an awful, longdrop kind of smell. 💩
We'll probably go again, but it's very good that they are planning some maintenance - then it would be worth the cost."

"The Plettenberg houses need TLC. The inside are clean the bedding clean and the fridge, microwave and stove in excellent condition. The inside and outside are old an need a upgrade. The swimming pools are sparkling. The garden are a haven full of birds. We stayed in the old houses. The staff are friendly and helpfull."
