Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Pretoria National Botanical Garden for its stunning beauty, meticulous upkeep, and diverse offerings. It's a highly recommended spot for picnics, gentle hikes, and appreciating nature, with many finding the entrance fee very reasonable for the experience provided. Some minor points of improvement could relate to signage clarity or restaurant variety, but overall, it's a beloved destination.

"A peaceful, beautiful escape right in Pretoria.

The Pretoria National Botanical Gardens is honestly one of the most grounding places I’ve visited in a long time. It’s tranquil, spacious, and incredibly well-kept — the kind of place where you can actually take your shoes off and walk barefoot on the grass without worrying about glass or anything unsafe.

There are so many little corners to explore, whether you want a quiet spot under the trees, open lawns for a family picnic, or one of the shaded areas to simply unwind. My kids loved it; the trails kept them entertained, and the waterfall has such a calming presence that you can hear it long before you see it.

We spotted a variety of birds, dassies, and other small wildlife as we walked, which was such a lovely surprise. The gardens feel safe and welcoming, and it’s clear that a lot of care goes into maintaining the grounds.

There’s also a restaurant, plenty of clean restrooms, and drinking water available throughout the gardens — small things, but they make a big difference when you’re spending a few hours outdoors.

It’s peaceful, beautiful, and the perfect place to reconnect with nature. Whether you’re going with family, on your own, or just need a mental reset, this is one of Pretoria’s gems. Highly recommended."

"The place is very well maintained, and it's a very relaxing atmosphere. Just nice to walk around and enjoy nature and have a cup of coffee at the coffee shop there, nestled between the trees. Very, very relaxing. And very comfortable.
The toilets are also very well maintained, and there are extra toilets available in the form of portable ones."

"Such a stunning celebration of our natural heritage! Thoughtfully laid out with lots of notice boards and information. Beautiful sculptures to admire, and lots of little shady spots for a picnic. Happy to pay the entrance fee, as it is clearly going towards maintaining everything."
