Timing is Everything

Jeju's Dongmun Market is a vibrant hub, but it's busiest during peak tourist hours. For a more authentic experience and shorter queues at food stalls, aim for weekday mornings or late afternoons. Weekends can get packed, especially during holidays.

Cash is Still King

While some vendors might accept cards, many smaller stalls at Dongmun Market prefer cash. It's wise to have Korean Won on hand for street food and souvenirs to avoid missing out on delicious treats or unique finds.

Reviews Summary

Jeju's Dongmun Market is a vibrant and bustling hub offering a fantastic array of street food and local products. Visitors praise the delicious eats, especially the grilled squid and hotteok, and the unique Hallabong juice. While some find prices a bit high and a few vendors can be rude, the overall experience is considered a must-visit for its authentic atmosphere and culinary delights.

"It's not a big street market compared to the ones on the mainland, however there are some very good vendors. There's an older man selling butter grilled squid it was very fresh and delicious. There's a lady selling hotteok it's still the best that I've had, even better than the ones I've had in Seoul. The market is vibrant with a lot of tourists mixed in with locals. There are a lot of good eats there. If you're visiting Jeju and are in the north side of the island. It's a must visit."

Chu Lin

"It's a classic modernized Korean market. Enough old stuff to be interesting. Enough tourist stuff to keep the money flowing. It's really quite good."

Peter Ryan

"Lots of fresh and cooked food variety. Mostly seafood being in an island. Tried some of the snacks for lunch and nice that they offer space for eating as long as you order one drink per person."
