Walking through the main street of the market, I constantly felt pressured by the aggressive sales tactics of the vendors. Many of them called out insistently to passing visitors, trying to pull them into their stalls, and it was difficult to simply enjoy the atmosphere without being interrupted.

For me, this kind of approach is not welcoming — it is burdensome. Tourists and visitors usually want to look around freely, explore at their own pace, and choose what they want without being pressured. When vendors shout or try to force attention, it creates stress instead of hospitality. What they may believe is kindness or enthusiasm can actually drive people away.

The market itself has potential, with unique foods and local products that could attract many visitors, but the constant solicitation overshadows these qualities. If the vendors understood that genuine friendliness and giving space are what tourists truly appreciate, the experience would be much more enjoyable for everyone.

At this point, I cannot honestly recommend Hwagae Market to other tourists, because the pushy atmosphere takes away more than it gives."

"Market brought interesting village vibe, but the food there is quite pricey, maybe it’s more pricey for tourists like us. The sellers were quite pushy and tried to make you buy their stuffs or sit down at the restaurant. The public bathroom is clean and nice. The market is clean. There are a lot of samples that sellers pushed you to try. Plenty of parkings around. The scenery was beautiful."
