What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hongdae Korean BBQ offers a vibrant and often affordable dining experience, with many praising the value for money, especially in all-you-can-eat options. The quality of meat and delicious sides like fried chicken and naengmyeon are frequently highlighted. However, some reviews point to inconsistent service, potential tourist traps with low-quality ingredients in budget AYCE places, and staff who could be more attentive or informative.
"Value price, but the lady staff could be more friendly and helpful to explain things to tourists. What I dont like is its pan gets burn quickly and no replacement for customers. Fried chicken stands out and toilet is clean though."

"⚠️ Warning: TOURIST TRAP AND SCAM do not go here!!! This is the worst grill I’ve been to in Korea. Yes, it’s cheap and you can eat as much as you want for two hours. We paid very little, about 20,000 won per person. But the food quality is extremely low and the grill is gas. The meat tastes bad and is really unpleasant. I honestly don’t understand the positive reviews—this place is just not good. The low quality is not worth the low price. I’d much rather pay more and actually enjoy the food.
I am editing my review after the restaurant’s response. I honestly don’t understand it at all, and I find the reply quite rude. It only reinforces my impression that this restaurant has bought some of its reviews. We had no issue with the time limit. The problem was the food itself, which was of very low quality and tasted terrible. We stopped eating about an hour after entering and only stayed to finish our beer. We didn’t take more food simply because it was not good.
Perhaps my original review was misunderstood due to the language barrier? My point was never about the time limit, but about the quality and taste of the food, which was awful and the worst I’ve had in Korea. The response from the restaurant was inappropriate."

"Meats are fresh and the price is cheap, but their service is so so, may be because of too many customer, as I expected at least they will serve us when bring us to the table, and ask us which set we would like to take as in there’s 3 choices, we are almost leave the shop because of no one is serving us after we sitting there and waited for few minutes, and we don’t know what to do 😅
If you just want to eat the bbq pork/meat, you may just pick the set A/cheapest set, and just need 1k krw for each rice if you need that, but not sure if they still serve you free drink or not, so it’s better to ask them first before you make your choice
If you like to try the boneless fried chicken, then you can pick the set B, it’s quite delicious and I never expected it can be so good
If you can eat a lot including meat, fried chicken, rice and drink or more, then just pick the Full Set, we picked this too but I feel it’s actually not that worth to take it
Overall, it’s worth to try 👍"

When choosing an AYCE KBBQ, pay attention to what's included. Some deals focus on pork, while others offer a wider selection including beef. Some reviewers recommend opting for the cheapest set if you primarily want to eat BBQ pork, as it might offer better value than more expensive full sets that include items like fried chicken or drinks you might not consume.
