What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sanjeong Lake is praised for its natural beauty, especially the waterfalls after rain and the scenic lakeside walks. Visitors appreciate the blend of nature with the amusement park and winter activities, though the park's noise can be a drawback for some seeking pure tranquility. The winter snow activities are a major draw, despite potential queues.
"It rained a lot yesterday, which means today is the perfect day to visit 산정호수. Thanks to the rain, the waterfalls—from the entrance all the way to the top—are overflowing with emerald beauty. With the newly opened roads, it now takes just a little over an hour from Seoul, so I grabbed a coffee early and aimed to get there by 9:30 a.m. to beat the traffic.
My usual route is to take the hiking trail that leads up to 등룡폭포 (the “Soaring Dragon Waterfall”). Today, I was lucky—the rain had brought so many waterfalls to life along the way. I usually skip the peak to save energy for a relaxing walk around the lake later on.
Before that, though—brunch is a must. By the time I come down from the trail, it’s already around 11 a.m. Instead of following Instagram reviews or ratings this time, I decided to try a place I always pass by: 등산로가든. I just wanted something simple—산채비빔밥 and the hiker’s staple, 도토리묵무침. And wow… they were simply perfect.
Next, I strolled the beautiful lakeside path. If it weren’t for the loud, obnoxious music blasting from the little amusement park at the lake’s entrance, the serenity of this place would be even more magical. Still, as always, I wrapped things up with an ice americano and 단팥빵 from a century-old bakery before heading back to Seoul around 1 p.m. to avoid the Sunday traffic.
산정호수 never disappoints—what an amazing place."

"Lovely place. We went early in the morning with our dogs and walked once around the lake. There were not many people at the time, so the lake had its own magic, not the tourism activity hype. Many restaurants and beautiful coffee shops, interesting art work and some historical facts. Well worth a visit."

"Came here almost every year. I think the most succesful visit was last weekend visit. This year, 2022~2023 korea has a lot of snow falling. As well as the day before I visited here, snow fell. I added pics from years ago and also from last weekend's visit. There were so many people but we can still ride the sled or the bicycle or the train by waiting 40 to 60 min. It is still acceptable. They have better system this year, allowing us to get waiting number before finally buy tickets. There are so many rides, but for the note only penguin and duck cycle are allowed in the ice area. For the santa cycle, you must ride through the snow. I can not ride it at all to tell you the truth. So difficult to steer 😲 😱 But my son can ride it very well. (Shame on me!) Oh they have mini amusement park where you can ride viking, etc."
