What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Rain Report offers a highly unique and 'Instagrammable' cafe experience with its signature indoor rain feature. While the ambiance is praised for its serene and calming atmosphere, some visitors find the food and drinks to be overpriced and occasionally dry. The consistency of the rain effect can also be a point of disappointment for some.
"I failed to check the latest reviews and paid the price, so please read!
What I will say first of all, is that I had no issues with the staff - they were all friendly enough.
The coffees and cakes we had were also good, though expensive. But note that there were no savoury options at all.
However, the main attraction to Rain Report for us (and I’m sure all of you reading this) is, not surprisingly, the ‘rain’. There was absolutely no ‘rain’ or features on display. The main display in the main cafe was dried out with no water flowing minus a tiny shower (see photo). Very disappointing.
The venue itself is also disgusting. The floors, tables, and even the walls are covered in old spillages and crumbs (again, see photo). Again, disappointing considering there was one other couple in the venue alongside us, so could have easily been cleaned by the staff. The lamps on the table also cover up massive holes, so they’re not just for the aesthetics.
Don’t make the same mistake we did. It will be an expensive waste of time!"

"It’s already a famous café among foreign tourists. When I visited, there were about ten groups, and I was the only Korean. The coffee tasted excellent, but I deducted one star because the price was high. The café, decorated in black, has a great atmosphere, and it “rains” once every 30 minutes. You can take stunning photos in the centre where the rain falls, and umbrellas are also provided."

"Instagramable rain-themed cafe at the edge of Itaewon and near an entrance of Namsam outdoor garden.
Just a short bus ride from Itaewon station and a quick steep neighborhood walk away. From outdoor rain sprinklers and free umbrellas for some pics or check out somr digital and analog weather reports displayed around the world.
Cakes run out early and the drinks are decent. Coming on an actual rainy day does make the atmosphere feel whole."

The Unique 'Rain' Concept
While the execution can vary, the intention is to provide a visually striking and calming environment. Some visitors find the simulated rain to be a magical element, perfect for unique photos and a memorable experience. The cafe often provides umbrellas for patrons to pose with under the indoor showers, enhancing the thematic elements.
It's important to note that the 'rain' feature's consistency has been a point of discussion among visitors. Some reviews mention it being dried out or only a small shower, leading to disappointment. Therefore, managing expectations and perhaps inquiring about the feature's operation upon arrival is advisable.
Culinary Delights (and Disappointments)
However, visitor feedback on the taste and quality of the food is mixed. While some praise the coffee and desserts as excellent and refreshing, a recurring comment is that the pastries, particularly cakes, can be dry. The price point is also frequently mentioned as being on the higher side, leading some to feel it's more of a 'gram' experience than a culinary one.
If you're visiting Rain Report, it's recommended to go with the expectation of enjoying the unique ambiance and photo opportunities. While the food and drinks can be good, they might not be the primary highlight for everyone. Arriving earlier in the day can also increase your chances of snagging the most popular pastries before they sell out.
