Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Seoraksan National Park for its breathtaking natural beauty and well-maintained trails, often comparing it favorably to international parks. The stunning mountain vistas, accessible cable car, and serene temples are major highlights. However, some note that many popular hikes involve strenuous stair climbing, making them challenging for those with mobility issues or young children.

"Great national park! Free entrance, only need to pay for parking. There are a lot of restaurants, coffees, toilets at the entrance as well as on your hike. You can take the cable car or choose a hike that you prefer. We checked on Kahoot before and chose a hike that was 12km (round so 6-6km) It was lovely however the last 2 kms were uphill (so prepare yourself). I would really recommend this national park to everyone!!"

Anna Nagy

"Absolutely worth it! There are several walking trails BUT make sure you go prepared! Some of the hikes require a lot of stair climbing!

One of the hikes brings you from the Buddhist temple to the top of the mountain. The hike is 3.5km one way and requires a lot of stair climbing! Halfway up there is another temple inside the rock.

Once you’re on top of the mountain you can see several cities on the coast. The view is fantastic!

The other hike takes you to 3 waterfalls. Same here, lots of stair climbing!

The hikes are not suitable for little kids, people with strollers, or people in wheelchairs.

There is a huge parking lot where you pay 6,000 Won per day."

"Beautiful mountain park and worth to be visited any season of the year. We came here mid-spring and the weather was perfect and the trees were all green. We paid a 6,000 won parking fee and 15,000 won per person fee for the cable car that took us to one of the peaks of Seoraksan. Up there, there's several trails that lead to decks with breathtaking views.

There's also a Buddhist temple inside the national park and several trails where you can walk and just enjoy the sound of birds under the shade of the the trees.

Plenty of cafes, restaurants, stores that sells beverages and snacks so you will bever get hungry. There's also gazebos and benches to rest or have a picnic."

Hiking Trails for Every Level

Seoraksan National Park boasts a network of trails catering to all fitness levels, from gentle strolls to challenging summit ascents. For a relatively easy and scenic walk, the Osaek Jujeongol course (Five Colors Trail) follows a river and features a Silla-era pagoda. This trail is known for its initial steep ladder climb but flattens out later, offering a taste of the park's natural beauty. Reddit

More adventurous hikers can tackle the iconic Ulsanbawi Rock trail. This demanding hike involves significant stair climbing and rocky terrain, rewarding trekkers with breathtaking views of the park's granite peaks and the East Sea. It's a popular choice for those seeking a more strenuous challenge. Reddit

For the ultimate experience, aiming for Daecheongbong Peak, the park's highest point, requires a full day of dedicated hiking. These longer treks are not suitable for young children or those with mobility issues, emphasizing the need to choose trails that match your physical capabilities and preparedness. Reddit

The Seoraksan Cable Car Experience

The Seoraksan Cable Car offers a convenient and spectacular way to experience the park's grandeur without a strenuous hike. The area also serves as a starting point for shorter walks to various viewpoints. The journey itself is a highlight, offering a unique perspective of the park's dramatic topography. Reddit

While the cable car is a fantastic option for those seeking incredible vistas with less physical exertion, it's important to note that it is an additional cost on top of the park entrance fee.
