What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Jogyesan Provincial Park for its beautiful temples and scenic hiking trails, especially during spring and autumn. The combination of cultural sites and natural landscapes offers a rewarding experience, though some find the summit views from certain peaks less impressive than the journey itself.
"Hiking on April 3, 2025
Janggunbong Peak, located within Jogyesan Provincial Park, is 887 meters high, similar in elevation to Bukhansan Mountain in Seoul, but it's a very different mountain. The valleys, rocks, and scenery are quite different from Bukhansan Mountain, but the reason to visit this mountain is Songgwangsa Temple, Seonamsa Temple, and Cheonjaam Hermitage.
We took the Sangsaho Road, and the cherry blossoms in full bloom, combined with the clear weather, create a beautiful scene.
There's so much to see at Seonamsa Temple that you can easily spend an hour or two there. After visiting the temple, follow the Daegakam Hermitage signpost to access the hiking trail. From Daegakam Hermitage to Janggunbong Peak, the path is a constant uphill climb. You'll be climbing without a single saddle. The climb ultimately leads to the summit of Janggunbong Peak. I was quite deceived. Along the way, I came across the site of Haengnamjeol Temple and two other unnamed temples. The presence of springs at this elevation suggests that this area was once fertile. The view from the summit wasn't very good."

"1. The village road leading to the trailhead for the Boribapjib trail is very narrow, so caution is advised.
2. There's a warning near Boribapjib advising passengers not to drive any further. Unless you have an off-road-specific SUV, we recommend against it.
3. It's not a particularly fun or scenic mountain."

"Big alley? I went up there and came down the smaller one. The climb was quite rough. It started lower than I expected, but the slope was steep, so the elevation gain was steep compared to the distance. The view wasn't great, but the fall foliage was beautiful. The shade lasted a long time, which was nice."
