Embrace the Pebbles

Playa de la Roda is known for its white pebbles, not sand. While beautiful, they can be uncomfortable for lounging. Consider bringing water shoes for a more pleasant experience and to navigate the occasional sharp rocks or seaweed.

Timing is Key for Tranquility

While Altea is a popular destination, Playa de la Roda can be surprisingly uncrowded, even in peak season. Visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon can offer a more serene experience, avoiding the midday sun and potential jellyfish sightings.

Reviews Summary

Playa de la Roda offers beautiful turquoise waters and a unique white pebble landscape, with some visitors finding it surprisingly uncrowded even in peak season. However, the pebbles can be uncomfortable, and concerns about sharp rocks and occasional jellyfish sightings have been noted, impacting the overall experience for some.

"Looking from afar, the color of water is really nice. Its almost turqoise. There is so much space. Very very few people in the area in Aug 2025. It was promising.

However, I was so disappointed. There were big sharp rocks underneath the waves. We got a little scared. During that time, theres also a lot of dried leaves or seaplants floating in the shore so it doesnt give us a nice feeling and it looks dirty.

There were toilets but no shower and no faucet to wash your feet.

We are not going back to this beach. I do not recommend this."

Madelyn

"We spent a couple of hours at Playa La Roda and absolutely loved our time there. It was a perfect sunny beach day, with the clear turquoise waters and a mix of fine sand and pebbles creating a pleasant experience for both lounging and swimming."

Highway Video

"The beach is quite pretty, but somewhat uncomfortable with stones. It also isn't perfect for sitting, because many stones are dirty with clayish substance, leaving stains on clothes, towels, bags etc. It's washable, but inconvenient."
