What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise the Aquarium of Barcelona for its impressive Oceanarium tunnel and diverse marine life, making it a captivating experience for all ages. It's frequently recommended as an excellent indoor activity, particularly for rainy days. Some visitors note that it can get crowded, especially during peak times, and a few feel it might be a bit pricey compared to other attractions.
"My son and I visited the aquarium yesterday as an afternoon activity. The aquarium was good, open space, the tunnel has a moving platform which takes you around the whole tank or you can walk it. Fun and interactive activities on screens and 2 play areas (younger and older). Would recommend if you just want to have a chilled afternoon plus there is a nice walk along the water after to go exploring"

"At first, I wasn’t fully impressed, mainly because I was subconsciously comparing it to the Oceanogràfic in Valencia. That said, L’Aquàrium de Barcelona turned out to be a rich, clean, and very informative experience. The main tank with the sharks and larger fish is truly impressive and easily the highlight of the visit.
I also want to give credit to Takashi Amano—the aquascaping in the smaller tanks (and prob not only there) was beautifully done, making them feel as natural and immersive as possible. You can really sense the attention to detail and respect for the ecosystems on display.
The only real downside for me was the crowd management. At one point, the space felt overcrowded, with limited air circulation, yet more people were still being allowed in. When you buy tickets for specific time slots, you expect some form of capacity control—once a certain threshold is reached, entry should be limited. Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to be the case during our visit. I might be wrong.
We went at the beginning of December, which made me wonder whether Barcelona is effectively in tourist season year-round. Regardless, if you have a couple of spare hours in the city, the aquarium is definitely worth a visit."

"This is a fantastic place to visit in the heart of Barcelona, offering an unforgettable experience for the entire family. The aquarium features a very large selection of marine life, organized into impressive, thematic settings that take you on a journey through the world's oceans, with a special focus on Mediterranean ecosystems. You can see everything from colorful tropical fish and graceful jellyfish floating in illuminated tanks, to large sharks and ocean sunfish circling in the central, enormous acrylic tunnel.
This 80-meter underwater tunnel, which runs through the Oceanarium, is the highlight of the visit. It offers a true panoramic view and gives the sensation of being submerged underwater, surrounded by over 11,000 animals. It is an absolutely mesmerizing experience.
Children, without a doubt, will be the happiest with this visit. Interactive educational zones and exhibitions like "Planeta Aqua" are organized for them, where they can explore and learn about marine conservation through fun, digital, and educational activities. The educational aspect is outstanding – experts are available to provide detailed information about rare and exotic species.
You will not go wrong if you visit this place. It is a perfect destination located in Port Vell and offers time spent on education and creating happy family memories, especially with the spectacular Oceanarium.
Greetings from Macedonia🇲🇰🇲🇰"
