What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Barcelona Cathedral for its stunning Gothic architecture and the serene beauty of its cloisters. The rooftop views are a major draw, offering a unique perspective of the city. Some find the admission fee a bit high for the overall experience compared to other attractions, and queues can be long without advance booking.
"The Barcelona Cathedral is undeniably beautiful grand Gothic architecture, soaring ceilings, peaceful cloisters, and a charming square in front where you can sit and take in the atmosphere. Itâs well-preserved, historically rich, and offers a calm break from the busy streets of the Gothic Quarter. Walking around inside gives you a real sense of old Barcelona and its religious heritage.
However, rating it feels tricky. In almost any other city, this would be a top attraction. But in Barcelonaâwhere GaudĂâs masterpieces like Sagrada FamĂlia, Casa BatllĂł, and Park GĂźell steal the spotlight it doesnât have the same âwowâ factor. If those didnât exist, the cathedral would feel much more impressive and memorable.
Still, itâs worth a visit, especially if youâre already exploring the historic center. Go early or later in the day for a quieter experience, admire the exterior, wander through the cloister, and enjoy the surrounding neighborhood. A solid and meaningful stop just keep expectations realistic if youâve already seen the big GaudĂ icons."

"We purchased ticket online to enter but we also we walked around and there are some areas of free entry. It is a beautiful building in the gothic quarter and very interesting to walk around. Inside the church is spectacular and the audio guide is one of the best we have had. You can get access to the terrace which has a great view of the city. The architecture and history is incredibly interesting and I loved the geese. I would highly recommended visiting."

"Barcelona Cathedral is one of the most impressive examples of Gothic architecture and a magnificent structure located in the city's historic center. Built between the 13th and 15th centuries, the cathedral stands out for both its fine stonework on its exterior and its elegant towers. Its dedication to Santa EulĂ lia gives the structure its special religious and historical significance. The elaborate carvings on the facade and the magnificence of the towers, in particular, provide stunning shots for photography enthusiasts. Its historical character and architectural beauty make it a must-see in Barcelona.."
