Reviews Summary

Casa Batlló is widely praised for its breathtaking and unique architecture, with many visitors captivated by Antoni Gaudí's imaginative design and the immersive 'Arborescent' experience. However, some find the ticket price high for the perceived amount of 'exhibit' space, and crowds can detract from the enjoyment.

"Very beautiful and unique work done by Gaudi. Just amazing to see he did this back in the early 1900s, the design and the creative mind is truly astonishing. It’s definitely a piece of art even to this day! I was very happy to visit this place and see it in person.

The audio self guided tour is very simple and easy to use. Each room tells you more than what the eye sees and a small story behind it. I do wish there were earphones rather than just holding it against your ear.

We visited around 5:30 on a weekday and it was not overly crowded but still decently busy. When we left, it was definitely busier but not sure if that was general public or for an event as they were starting to do a setup inside when we were there.

The only thing I don’t truly understand is there ticketing system. The different options should be better explained. And the packages that are sold on external websites are also just as confusing so we bought the basic standard tickets but it would be nice to understand the other tickets so we could have enjoyed it even more.

They also do not allow stroller inside so you can hold your baby or they have baby carriers for you to use. But we could not figure out the carrier; it just wasn’t comfortable for our baby so either come prepared with extra time to figure it out so your baby is comfortable, especially if your baby is 1+ year or bring your own to enjoy the experience properly as holding your baby for 45-60 mins is not ideal."

"Really a fantastic place to visit. The architecture here is amazing and the artistry can be felt in every single step you take. We took the silver ticket that we booked in advance the day before and we highly recommend booking before you get there. The wait was short and the audio guide was excellent. They give you a little phone like device that you hold up to your ear and you go from room to room hitting the buttons for what you want to hear. The light show at the end is well worth it and super awesome as well. The rooftop has accent views of the whole city and I bet the sunset views from here are amazing."

Moiz Horani

"The ticketing system was really well done, and we enjoyed the glass of cava on floor one during the tour. There is not really much to see inside of the house, but we did enjoy the light display at the end which topped off our day. Also, we had a chance to go to the rooftop where there was a band playing, and it was a nice touch. Overall worth a tour and to see something out of the history of Barcelona."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

Antoni Gaudí's Visionary Design

Casa Batlló is a prime example of Antoni Gaudí's unique architectural style, often described as Modernisme. Completed in 1906, it was a renovation of a pre-existing building, transformed into a fantastical dwelling. Gaudí's design eschews straight lines, favoring organic, flowing forms inspired by nature. The building's facade, with its undulating curves and colorful mosaic tiles, resembles a dragon's scales, while the roof is often interpreted as the dragon's back, complete with a turret resembling its head. TikTok+1

Inside, this organic theme continues. The Noble Floor, the main living area, features a fireplace shaped like a mushroom and doors with wave-like handles. The windows are adorned with stained glass, and the entire space feels fluid and alive. Gaudí's attention to detail is evident in every element, from the ventilation grilles to the doorknobs, all designed to be both functional and aesthetically captivating. The building is a testament to his belief that architecture should be a living, breathing entity. Reddit

Many visitors are particularly struck by the 'Arborescent' immersive experience, which uses augmented reality to overlay digital content onto the physical space. This technology allows visitors to see the building come alive with animations and narratives, offering deeper insights into Gaudí's creative process and the symbolism embedded within the architecture. It's a modern interpretation that complements the historical marvel. TikTokReddit
