What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Casa Thomas is lauded as a magnificent modernist building by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, praised for its Gothic-inspired facade and rich interior details like plant motifs and a wrought iron staircase. However, some visitors have experienced significant organizational issues during special events, leading to long waits and disappointment due to poor crowd management.
"The Thomas House, located on Mallorca Street, nº 293 in Barcelona, is a magnificent modernist building by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. It was commissioned by the industrialist Joseph Thomas to Domènech i Montaner at the end of the 19th century. The main facade has elements reminiscent of the Gothic style. Originally it consisted of the ground floor, where there was a lithography workshop, and a first floor, where the owner's family lived. In 1912 it was expanded, respecting the original style, adding three floors and some stands at each end of the facade. This expansion was the work of the architect Francesc Guàrdia i Vial. It's a shame we couldn't go inside because the lobby is decorated with plant elements and the staircase is made of wrought iron. We'll visit it with some modernist route through the city. It's an impressive building."

"The organization of the 48 Hours of Architecture at Casa Thomas was a complete failure! I arrived at 4:50 PM with children. I waited in line until 6:20 PM, when the organizers announced we wouldn't be able to get in. It's ridiculous and incredibly irresponsible not to have done a basic calculation of the excursion time based on the number of people entering each time! Shameful!"

"Falta muito organização e maior respeito aos participantes na realização dessas visitas. Fiquei mais de uma hora e meia numa fila para depois ser informado de que não haveria mais possibilidades."
