What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests rave about the hotel's exceptional location in the Gothic Quarter, offering stunning cathedral views and easy walkability to major sights. The warm hospitality, comfortable rooms, and outstanding breakfast buffet are frequently highlighted positives. However, some reviews mention inconsistent service on the rooftop and occasional internal noise issues.
"We really enjoyed the Lamaro Hotel. Its location in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, put us steps from Christmas market in front of the cathedral and we were surrounded by great cafés, shops, and energy. Everything was walkable and effortless.
The staff were warm, attentive, and genuine. Every interaction felt easy, and they were quick to help with directions, recommendations, and anything we needed. The room was modern, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, with great bedding and a spotless bathroom. The sound proofing was noteworthy. The rooftop terrace, facing the cathedral, . Is a lovely place to relax with a drink and take in gorgeous views after a long day of exploring.
Two concerns: the friendly and helpful doormen set the tone for the entire experience for every guest. And they carry a lot of luggage. As a hospitality owner myself, I reflexively check their shoes as they stand on their feet for long hours on concrete. The shoes they are required to wear by management are dangerous. Having good quality supportive non slip shoes is the most important equipment they need to do their jobs day in and day out. That lack of care for their people created a black mark in my mind in an otherwise extraordinary stay.
The other was that the linen cart was left in front of our door all day every day. The halls were short and there were plenty of less obtrusive places to leave it. That was a second indication yo me that management was not attuned.
The Hotel offered comfort, convenience, and lovely hospitality that colored our entire experience of Barcelona."

"Wanted to try the rooftop dining. The dessert and the drink were magnificent along with the view and atmosphere. It definitely deserves 5 stars. However, in terms of service, they were very vulgar towards me. They urged me to order something twice while I was checking the menu, and I had already warned them that I want time. At last, I ordered to get rid of them. Later on, while I was dining, the host came and wanted to change my seat. I said no.
I do not know exactly why, but as far as I saw, they behaved in such a way solely to me, thankfully. It wasn't a very pleasent experience.
To those who will go: Do not hesitate, absolutely try their deserts. But try to dress nice; otherwise, they might see you as a "commoner" like they did to me :)."

"The Lamaro is a great spot in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. We arrived straight from the cruise port and were able to check in early- Thank you to Jamie at the front desk for the warm welcome. The location is unbeatable, and our balcony offered a great view of the Cathedral and the lively square below. The room was comfortable and well-stocked with various toiletries, bottled water, coffee, and chocolates. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with everything from mimosas and fresh fruit to empanadas and pastries- There was something for everyone. The rooftop bar was a highlight, where we enjoyed tapas and drinks while watching the La Mercè fireworks from our table. Some construction noise and thin walls were noticeable, and the room had a faint smoke smell throughout the day, but overall, the service, comfort, and location made this a fantastic stay that I’d gladly repeat."

The Iconic Rooftop Terrace
While the ambiance and views are consistently praised, some reviews mention that the service on the rooftop can be inconsistent. One guest reported feeling pressured to order and experiencing an unpleasant interaction when asked to change seats. Location, Location, Location
Many travelers find this central spot incredibly convenient for exploring Barcelona on foot. Major attractions like Las Ramblas, the Picasso Museum, and the Boqueria Market are all within easy walking distance. This makes it an ideal base for those who want to immerse themselves in the city's vibrant atmosphere and easily access its many sights.
Being in such a lively area means there's always something happening outside. While this adds to the city's charm, some guests have noted that rooms not facing the cathedral might experience internal noise from the building's infrastructure. However, for many, the convenience and immersion in Barcelona's historic core far outweigh any minor noise disturbances.
Room Comfort and Design
However, not all experiences are uniformly positive. Some reviews mention that rooms can be small, and beds might consist of two narrow singles pushed together. A lack of certain amenities, like a full-length mirror or an inside door lock, has been pointed out by guests seeking a more upscale experience.
Despite these minor critiques, the overall consensus is that the rooms provide a comfortable and convenient base for exploring Barcelona. The thoughtful touches, such as good bath products and the provision of bottled water and coffee, are appreciated by many visitors.
