What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Martinez offers a captivating dining experience with stunning city views from Montjuïc, complemented by attentive service and a sophisticated ambiance. While many praise the overall experience and specific dishes like croquettes and tuna tartare, some reviews highlight a mixed reception for their signature paella, with occasional concerns about value for money.
"This was a recommendation from a friend and we were dubious given its location away from the city , but upon entering I can only say they delivered great service, lovely food and a wonderful location with views of the city. Book early to get the best seats, enjoy the rice and a fish - go as a group of 4 at least so you can truly sample what’s on offer. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening here - well worth it."

"Croquettes insane. Really nice host guy us a great table. Overall a great experience.
Anchovies solid, Pan Tomate great, Arroz señorio high quality ingredients strong fishy flavour disappointed me though. Rice cooked too perfection, but definitely savory so I guess next time Ill try with rabbit instead. Nice atmosphere really good crowd."

"If you want a more special occasion, celebratory meal, or just an elevated experience, I would recommend Martinez when in Montjuic. There is so much good food in Spain, much of it found in the most casual environments, but places like this should not be missed. I had the hands down best tuna tartare I’ve had anywhere, and the arrozes, Iberian pork and beef tenderloin were all outstanding. I had a green salad to start- something simple and light, but it was so fresh, dressed appropriately and opened my palate perfectly. When even a salad feels intentionally prepared, you should pay attention. The ambience is also so lovely, next to a gorgeous garden and with stunning views. Come with your partner or a group. You will not regret it!"

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
When ordering, focus on shareable dishes like some of the tapas or a less intensely flavored paella if available. While the restaurant is generally welcoming, it's not a playground, so keeping children entertained at the table is key. The staff are usually accommodating, but it's wise to confirm any specific family-friendly amenities or policies when booking.
💖 Couples & Romantic Dinners
To maximize the romantic experience, book a table with a prime view well in advance. Consider ordering a selection of tapas to share and perhaps a bottle of wine from their curated list. The overall ambiance is conducive to intimate conversation and enjoying a memorable meal together.
💰 Budget-Conscious Travelers
Consider visiting for lunch, which might offer a slightly more accessible price point than dinner. Also, be mindful of drink orders, as wine and cocktails can significantly increase the bill. Prioritizing the view and a few select dishes can help make the experience more budget-friendly.

The Martinez Dining Experience
When planning your visit, securing a table with a view is paramount for many. The enclosed terrace provides an unparalleled backdrop, especially as the sun sets and the city lights begin to sparkle. This makes it a popular spot for couples and groups celebrating milestones. However, it's worth noting that while the setting is a major draw, the culinary experience can be a point of discussion, with some guests finding certain dishes, like the paella, to be less impressive than anticipated given the price point.
Despite mixed reviews on specific dishes, the overall consensus points to Martinez as a place that delivers a memorable evening. The combination of good food, excellent service, and a truly spectacular location makes it a worthwhile consideration for those seeking an elevated dining experience in Barcelona. It's a place where the atmosphere and the view play as significant a role as the cuisine itself.
Navigating Montjuïc for Your Visit
For a truly scenic approach, consider using the Montjuïc Cable Car (Telefèric de Montjuïc). This offers panoramic views as you ascend, adding an extra layer of experience to your journey. However, factor in potential queues and the walk from the cable car station to the restaurant. Planning your transport in advance, especially if visiting during peak hours or for a sunset reservation, is crucial to ensure a relaxed arrival.
Parking on Montjuïc can be a challenge, with limited street parking. If you are driving, utilizing paid parking garages is a more reliable strategy. Regardless of your chosen method, allow extra time to account for potential traffic, finding parking, or walking uphill, ensuring your visit to Martinez is as enjoyable as possible from start to finish.
