What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Montjuïc Castle for its absolutely stunning panoramic views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean. The historical significance of the fortress and the scenic cable car ride are also frequently highlighted as major draws. Some find the entrance fee a bit steep for what's inside beyond the views, and a few mention that it can get quite crowded during peak times.
"Uhnn... The place is amazing. The views are hard to match. The fort (it's a fort, isn't it? Why do they call it a castle?) is very beautiful... but definitely not worth it the 12€ to get inside. Again, the location is amazing though. You can easily get there with the bus, 151 if I am not mistaken. When I went there during La Mercé 2024 there was an amazing comedy performance going on. Those guys were INCREDIBLE. And the organization of the event was flawless."

"The Castle itself isn't terribly exciting but it's the platform for which the cable car ride exists and that's exciting in itself. It's also the platform to view amazing 360 degrees across Barcelona. That is enough to give it 5 stars."

"Visited Montjuïc Castle — definitely worth it for the amazing views of Barcelona and the sea. I took a taxi up for €13 and came back down by cable car (€12.5 one way). If you just want the experience, taking the cable car either up or down is enough — the view is fantastic both ways. There’s also a small café/restaurant on top, so no worries about finding food or drinks. A great spot for sightseeing, photos, and relaxing above the city!"
