What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Terrassa de Vivi offers spectacular city views, particularly at sunset, and is praised for its well-made cocktails and relaxing atmosphere. However, some visitors find the food overpriced and not always meeting expectations, with a few noting a dull ambiance.
"Lovely rooftop bar, being able to sit outside in December and watch the sunset was amazing. Prices higher than some other bars but not super expensive given it’s a rooftop bar in the heart of the city. Would definitely recommend and return!"
Hannah Costello
"Booked this for my birthday as a treat however didn’t believe the price was worth paying.
Venue- was very nice and view was lovely, however the atmosphere was quite dull and the music was quiet.
Service- was decent but we was made to feel slightly rushed as they wanted to take our order only 1min after being seated.
Food- The pizza was made on a wrap base with a strange texture underneath costing €15.
The tacos cost €20 and had stale wraps and what seemed like frozen lobster that was dripping with water. Not worth €10 for one flavourless taco. Rose wine was okay but a tiny 200ml bottle of sprite was €5.50.
Wouldn’t recommend unless you want to spend way too much money on a mediocre time and food."
Layla Wheatley
"It was really easy to get a table even tho we didn’t book. At first we were seated at the bar, but really fast a member of the staff got us a good table with view. The burratina and croquetas were really good. They also have a good selection of homemade cocktails. The service was perfect and the atmosphere really relaxing.
A plus : the waiters are speaking a good English and are really nice"

The Allure of Rooftop Bars in Barcelona
Terrassa de Vivi exemplifies this trend, situated atop the Kimpton Vividora Hotel. Its prime location in the Gothic Quarter means it's surrounded by historic landmarks, making the views even more captivating. The appeal lies not just in the vistas but also in the curated experience – often featuring signature cocktails, quality tapas, and a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. It's a way to elevate your city experience, quite literally.
When visiting rooftop bars like Terrassa de Vivi, it's wise to consider the time of day. Sunset is a popular choice for obvious reasons, offering a spectacular display of colors across the sky. However, visiting during the day can provide a different, perhaps more relaxed, perspective, and often at slightly lower prices for beverages.
Navigating Barcelona's Gothic Quarter
Terrassa de Vivi's location within this district is a significant draw. Being in the Gothic Quarter means you're immersed in the city's history, with attractions like the Barcelona Cathedral and Plaça Sant Jaume just a stone's throw away. This makes it an ideal spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing, offering a moment of tranquility with a view above the bustling medieval streets.
When exploring the Gothic Quarter, wear comfortable shoes as the cobblestone streets can be uneven. Keep an eye out for small artisan shops and traditional tapas bars tucked away in the alleys. It’s also a good idea to have a map or use a navigation app, as getting lost is part of the charm, but sometimes you need to find your way back!
Dining and Drinks: Expectations vs. Reality
For instance, a pizza priced at €15 was described as being made on a wrap base with an unusual texture, and €20 tacos featured stale wraps and what seemed like frozen lobster. A small bottle of sprite cost €5.50. This suggests that while the ingredients might be fresh, the execution or portion sizes may not always align with the premium pricing.
Despite these criticisms, some visitors found the food to be incredible and highly recommend it. The key takeaway is to approach the dining experience with managed expectations. It's advisable to focus on the cocktails and perhaps lighter tapas, or consider Terrassa de Vivi more for its ambiance and views rather than a full, budget-friendly meal.
