Reviews Summary
W Barcelona is praised for its iconic architecture, stunning sea views, and vibrant rooftop bar scene, especially the Sunday Wet Deck parties. However, some guests find it a bit isolated from the city center and note that prices are on the higher side, with rooms sometimes described as slightly dated.
"Spent 3 nights here and Carolina greeted us at the entrance with a friendly smile on her face, offered us the best room we can have, as well as welcome drinks and breakfast. After checked in, Melanie handed us two bottles of water just to make us feel like home. Mr. Lorenzo is also very helpful, answered our questions professionally and was so kind to offer us a late check out. Manager and staffs from the restaurant fire are very friendly and always with smiles on their faces, ready to offer their best service to customers. Overall a very pleasant experience and money well spent."

"We‘ve had a stopover on our road trip from vienna to alicante here. Being part of the Amex Hotel selection made us pick this location for barcelona. The team was very supportive and caring, whilest we had some trouble and inconveniences with the room - like the heating was not set to winter mode and was cooling instead of heating, the pre-ordered dog amnities were not there etc, etc. The team and the manager did their best to get things fixed quickly.
Other than that its a very modern looking place, which is luckily undergoing some renovations as you could tell looking at some spots and edges, that it has seen some guests before.
The design is a kind of its own, which you have to appreciate. Its atmosphere feels little different in person, than on the pictures.
So, for now I‘d rate it 3 stars, due to ongoing and needed renovations, the unprepared room. The team made up one star as they were very supportive to fix the issues."

"Booked for 4 nights. Just arrived we got the info that the payed room is under construction (like last minute???), got another room without the payed view. But that is ok. Didnt bother us too much. Yesterday evening I was coming from the hotel gym. My card didnt work. Went to the desk. The young lady was very rude, left me speechless. Asked without any explanation for my ID, looked at me in a way I wouldnt belong there. When I told her I had it in my room as I have been in the gym her reaction was "that is not ok". She was so unfriendly nobody would expect that in front of a guest who pays 400€ per night. It's totally fine to ask for an ID, I like it safe too. It's the way you ask, the way you behave in front of guests. Absolutly unprofessionell.
Maybe she would have been nicer if I had my expensive bag in my hand and my dyson curly hair. But normal people dont do that when they go the gym to train.
The cleaning time was very nice and caring though."

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
However, if your family enjoys beach time and a more resort-like feel, the direct beach access is a plus. Consider booking a room with a good view for added enjoyment. For families prioritizing easy access to museums, parks, and a wider range of dining options suitable for children, other hotels in more central Barcelona neighborhoods might be a better fit.

Navigating Barcelona's Safety
Key safety tips include using anti-theft bags, keeping valuables secure and out of sight, and being wary of distractions. Some visitors have unfortunately experienced significant financial losses due to theft, highlighting the importance of vigilance. While the W Barcelona itself is a secure hotel, venturing out into the city requires a heightened sense of awareness.
Many travelers recommend not displaying expensive items openly and being cautious of unsolicited approaches. By taking these precautions, you can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim and enjoy your trip to Barcelona with peace of mind.
The W Barcelona Experience: Vibe & Location
However, this desirable location comes with a trade-off: it's situated a bit further from the city's main historical and cultural attractions. Many visitors note that getting to areas like the Gothic Quarter or Passeig de Gràcia requires a significant walk (around 30 minutes) or the use of taxis and public transport. This can be a drawback for travelers who want to be in the heart of the action and easily explore the city on foot multiple times a day.
While the W offers a luxurious and social experience, some reviews suggest it can feel a bit 'sterile' or like a typical chain hotel, lacking the unique personality of smaller, more centrally located boutique hotels. It's an excellent choice if you prioritize a chic beach resort feel with a lively social scene, but if your main goal is to immerse yourself in Barcelona's historic core, a hotel in a more central district might be a better fit.
Dining and Drinks with a View
The hotel's most famous social hub is undoubtedly the Wet Deck, a rooftop bar and lounge that transforms into a lively party spot, especially on Sunday afternoons during the summer. It's a popular destination for both hotel guests and locals looking for music, cocktails, and stunning city vistas.
While the hotel's dining options are generally well-regarded for their quality and ambiance, it's worth noting that prices at W Barcelona are typically higher than average, reflecting its luxury status and prime location. Many visitors find the experience of dining or having drinks with such incredible views to be well worth the cost.
