Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Colegiata de Bolea as a magnificent religious experience, often described as an unassuming church that opens to stunning interior artwork. The well-preserved high altarpiece and the refurbished organ are standout features, with guided tours highly recommended for their insightful historical context and access to special areas.
"The Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor is one of those unassuming churches from the outside that opens up to magnificent religious experience inside. There are incredible pieces of artwork adorning each of the naves. The organ has been refurbished and is a masterpiece to behold. We were fortunate enough to get a behind the scenes tour of the crypt, organ bellows, and sacristy all with a detailed history of each magnificent pice of art. There are paintings and sculptures from the Roman and Arabic past. The high altarpiece stands out above everything. It has recently been renovated and the colors of the 57 sculptures carved out of various woods and the 20 oil painted wood panels are remarkably preserved. Our host for the private tour was "spiritually attached" to the church as his own ancestors are buried beneath the church floor in a numbered and sealed family crypt. His vast knowledge of the history of the church and personal connection brought chills to me as I wandered around this sacred site."

"We went up to see it based on some brochures. It was a good idea; we loved it. It's very well preserved, and the guide was very professional, explaining everything in detail, so we could better appreciate its charm. I don't remember his name, but congratulations on his enthusiasm. Even though there were only five of us, he treated us like a large group."
