What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Casa Museo Guayasamín for its significant collection of Oswaldo Guayasamín's powerful art and the beautiful setting of the former residence. Many find it a deeply moving and informative experience that offers insight into Ecuadorian culture and history. While some find the art 'dour,' the overall consensus is that it's a worthwhile and enriching visit, especially given its value.
"Well worth the trip. A little off the Cáceres tourist trail but near the San Francisco Bridge ruin and on the old pilgrim's trail. Ground floor devoted to exhibits of Cacareño exponents of many arts from music to photography. 1st floor paintings a little dour but an impressive main room with carved wooden ceiling. Top floor takes in Cáceres/Extremadura through the ages - Stone, Bronze, Iron, Roman, etc including the conquistadors and links with the Americas. Also Civil War and post dictatorship autonomy.
I felt involved with and informed of Cáceres and its people after a visit here."
Graham Till
"No cost to get in, always a bonus, but I'd have paid 15 euro to enjoy the exhibit. Includes art and history of the region around Caceres (I believe Extremadura) in a beautiful house near the historical neighborhood of the city."
Jon Caceres
"Nice museum to drop in and learn about local culture."
