There were gorgeous views everywhere in Cadaques, but the views we got on our four-mile round trip hike to the Far de Cala Nans lighthouse were even better than we could have imagined. There were steep inclines, switchbacks, cliffs, beaches only accessible by venturing off trail or by boat, stunning views and a nice reprieve at a working lighthouse. It was one of my favorite hikes. Period. #h...

"Easy hike from Cadaqués with amazing views. There are some small pebble beaches along they way, which are steep to get to but accessible, I would not recommend descending to the beach with small children (smaller than 5 or not aware of dangers of heights). There is almost no shade along the route but very windy."

Ricardo Quintana

"Beautiful views of Cadaqués from the light house. The hike was not too difficult or crowded. There is an area to go down to the water as well."

Understanding the Cala Nans Lighthouse

Instagram Its strategic location on a rocky headland provides an unobstructed view of the sea and the entrance to the Bay of Cadaqués. Instagram

While the lighthouse itself is not typically open for public tours, its presence adds a historical and navigational significance to the landscape. Instagram It serves as a focal point for the stunning natural scenery, drawing visitors who appreciate both the coastal beauty and the maritime heritage. Instagram The working nature of the lighthouse means it remains an active part of the maritime infrastructure, contributing to the area's charm and character. Instagram

Local Significance

Locals and visitors alike appreciate the lighthouse as a landmark that defines the southeastern edge of Cadaqués Bay. It's a symbol of the rugged, untamed beauty of the Costa Brava, a region known for its dramatic cliffs and clear blue waters. TikTok The lighthouse, combined with the challenging yet rewarding hike, makes for a memorable experience that encapsulates the spirit of this Catalan gem. Instagram
