What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pico Anayet is celebrated for its legendary status and breathtaking summit views, offering a quintessential Pyrenean experience. While the hike is considered moderately challenging with a thrilling volcanic chimney climb, some find the descent particularly demanding, especially in wet conditions. The effort is consistently rewarded with unparalleled panoramic vistas.
"A legendary peak in the Pyrenees. An ever-present view from the Formigal and Astún ski resorts.
This summer we decided to attempt the climb, starting from the Portalet parking lot at the Formigal resort.
It's 1,000 meters high, and the route can be challenging at times, but it's not difficult. It's essential not to be afraid of heights.
Once at the top, the views are simply breathtaking, as you can see a good portion of the Pyrenees... And I dare say you can even see Moncayo!"

"If you're looking for the typical Pyrenean view, I think this would be the best representation. This volcanic peak is one of the most beautiful you can see from the base. The climb isn't for everyone. It requires experience, a lack of vertigo, and a strong grasp of the last few meters. A passage through the chains (50 meters) and a vertical climb (chimney) add an adrenaline rush that everyone must evaluate. In my case, the descent of both was the most challenging. Be very cautious."

"Incredible views from the top, but you have to be very careful, especially in the chain area (even more so if it is wet) and then in the last narrow pass, which is a climb that can be climbed without ropes but requires some skill. In the end the effort is worth it."
