Have you ever been to this part of the island? We passed Cap de Ses Salines by boat today – the southernmost tip of Mallorca. No beach bars, no crowds – just the lighthouse, the coastline, and the sea. Sometimes the simplest places leave the biggest impression.

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the stunning natural beauty of Cap de Ses Salines, particularly the rugged coastline and crystal-clear waters of its hidden coves. It's highlighted as an excellent spot for stargazing and photography. However, many note the lighthouse's dilapidated state and the lack of facilities, suggesting a need for better maintenance and organization of the area.

"It's a shame the lighthouse is so disastrous and forgotten...

The surroundings are beautiful, a reserve that should be valued more and start cleaning and tidying up the grounds, fixing the entrance and the wall, and creating a parking lot inside, for example, with signs in perfect condition.

Next to the gatehouse, a path leads off, and you can walk along it to the left and go down to some incredibly beautiful coves with beautiful, crystal-clear turquoise waters... And if you go to the right, after 25 or 30 minutes, you'll reach Cala Es Caracol, which is beautiful and worth a visit, with crystal-clear turquoise waters, fine sand, and usually uncrowded.

At the moment, you can park very well, along the sides of the road, closer to the beach early in the morning, or you can even get shade. If not, then in the sun and further away, but that's not important; the important thing is to park. There is no specific parking as such; the point is not to block access to private properties, which I understand many lead to the coves, but they are private and cannot be accessed unless you are a "local," as far as I understand."

José Eduardo Martín Polo

"The lighthouse is still closed but it is a nice area. There is no parking but you can park on the side of the road. If you walk a little further along the water you can find good swimming spots."

Johan Hörman

"It is the best place on the island to observe the night sky. Looking south, we avoid the light pollution of the island. It is easily accessible and very quiet. Keep in mind that it is visited by photographers, so it is suggested not to turn on flashlights at night or to illuminate as little as possible in red so as not to disturb other observers."

Visitors can explore various paths that lead to secluded coves, many of which are rarely crowded. These coves often feature crystal-clear turquoise waters and fine sand, making them ideal for a peaceful swim or sunbathing session. InstagramReddit

One of the most recommended walks is towards Cala Es Caracol, a beautiful beach accessible after a 25-30 minute walk from the lighthouse area. This path, and others like it, showcase the raw beauty of the Mallorcan coast. It's important to wear sturdy footwear as the terrain can be uneven and rocky. Remember to bring water and snacks, as there are no facilities in this natural setting. Reddit

The reserve is also a significant birdwatching area, so keep an eye out for local wildlife. The untouched nature of Cap de Ses Salines is a major draw for those seeking tranquility and a connection with the natural environment, far from the bustling resorts.

Stargazing at the Southernmost Point

Cap de Ses Salines is renowned as one of the best locations in Mallorca for observing the night sky. This makes it a prime spot for both amateur astronomers and astrophotographers looking to capture the beauty of the cosmos. Reddit

When visiting at night, it's crucial to be considerate of others. Photographers often gather here, and the use of bright flashlights can disrupt long-exposure shots. Travelers are advised to use red lights sparingly, which are less disruptive to night vision and sensitive camera equipment. This shared respect ensures everyone can enjoy the celestial spectacle.
