Reviews Summary

Visitors find Calatrava la Vieja a historically significant and naturally beautiful site, offering great value for its modest entry fee. The guided tours are appreciated for their informative content, though the primary language is Spanish. Some travelers note challenges with unclear signage and parking, and a desire for more independent exploration options.

"We had a guided tour. We needed to wait for our turn for the guided tour at 6 pm. The other guided tour was at 5 pm.
The tour guide was very friendly and explained very well about the castle in Spanish ( i don't think she could talk in English though). Posters are written in Spanish only.
It costs €4 and €2( for pensioners and unemployed [need to show some ID for that]) to get in."

Daphne Fernandez

"Very old and important archeaological site for our European history. Site is not always open to visit. Check entrance or call the number on the gate to enter."

Arthur Brasz

"We came to have a look outside the castle after having lunch in the town and go for a walk but it's fenced in and not clearly marked on Google or with signs where to go to park. They said tickets were 4€ each whether you take a guided tour or not. Considering COVID is still rife, we thought you should have the choice of paying for a guided tour or a lesser fee to just do your own thing. We'll go back on a quieter day maybe."
