What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for accommodations in the Judería Nueva area highlight significant issues with heating and owner communication, leading to negative experiences, especially in colder months. While the historical charm and location are appreciated, potential visitors are advised to verify heating and ensure clear communication regarding booking terms.
"They're not trustworthy.
We're three friends who were going to rent this property. When we made the reservation, the app forced us to leave a message for the owner. We indicated we were traveling for the Womad festival. The reservation wasn't immediate. The owner had to give her approval within 24 hours. She replied that she hadn't realized the festival was on that weekend and increased the price by 50%!!!!!
They're not serious. I don't think they're honest. I don't think they're trustworthy."

"A disastrous experience. We arrived at the house and it was around 10 degrees inside. Outside, it was between 5 and 7 degrees, as the owner showed through historical temperature information. The radiators were off and the windows were open, and the airing started at 7 or 8 pm... I closed the windows.
They apologized, but I was foolish not to look for something else at the time. Because of the children and the time of day, we stayed. The next day, I complained to Booking.com, but they referred me to the accommodations. I called the owner and we got into a debate about whether the radiator, once turned on and after a few minutes, was already reading 20 degrees. They assumed (they didn't believe it, but they didn't care) that the room was at 20 degrees after 5 minutes.
Since we couldn't reach an agreement, we left, trusting that the owner would see our good faith and offer us compensation commensurate with his lack of attention for not having the house with the windows closed and the radiators on, that is, properly conditioned.
When we left, without speaking again, I received a cancellation notice, so I assumed he was refunding my money... Hahaha. Foolishly, what the owner did was prevent me from posting a review on Booking.com, and in the end, I ended up paying for the entire stay, which seems disproportionate to me. We were so honest that I was thinking of sending him a bizum for part of it, since I couldn't see not paying anything either.
I would have posted this review on Booking.com since I made the reservation through them, but the owner of the accommodation canceled the reservation once I paid.
In short, poor service from the accommodation. Poor management for not having closed windows and heating, especially on cold days. I recommend calling and making sure you have closed windows and heating on.
The owner has been unprofessional by charging me for the entire stay when the error was obvious.
Edit: March 2022. Out of curiosity, I just saw the response, which I didn't know existed. Anyone who stays there, especially in winter, will understand that that house can't be at 30 degrees, not even dreaming. But hey, if you want to believe him. No one got out of the car... I got out, who else needs to? The wife with the sleeping children and the freezing house? And I'm not going to answer the rest of the nonsense he's spreading. My only recommendation is not to go in winter, and based on how they treated me, even canceling a Booking reservation, I can't recommend it.
And I'd also add that at least three of the 5-star reviews are from the same period and from just one review... As I said. I was deeply offended by the owner's treatment and how he prevented me from commenting on Booking. Simply amazing."

"Like the old Jewish quarter, we find ourselves before a unique house. It's not for everyone's taste, but it certainly suits mine. Upon entering, we find a beautiful ornate door that can be opened in the summer and a spa-bathroom area equipped with a radiator. The floor features gorgeous tiles and the walls a stunning design in electric blue tones. In the shower, which can be used in two ways, we find that the wall has been carefully bathed in a kind of liquid that prevents cracks, the fading of the ornamentation, and the growth of mold. On the same floor, we have a master bedroom with a wooden door; perhaps it creaks a little, but it's typical of a restored house. Going up some stairs, we find an impressive ceiling and decor in keeping with the Jewish quarter, with a very warm kitchen and living room, and a very spacious master bedroom."
