"A lovely place if it weren't for the rubbish surrounding it and the neglect it suffers."

"Good place to walk"

J. Andrés Redondo García

"A peri-urban natural space in Cáceres that runs along the Marco stream through the city and was traditionally the site of the gardens that supplied the city since Roman times. Currently, many organizations are calling for its protection due to the state of neglect it has suffered for many years. On Saturday, March 16, the Natura 2000 Association carried out a reforestation with native trees in a deforested public area near the construction of the southern ring road. The aim was to regenerate trees in an area that has suffered brutally from deforestation in recent years. The reforestation project included planting native trees, mainly Quercus, and silviculture work will be carried out to care for previously planted seedlings, with special care taken with their cleaning, irrigation, and maintenance. Following a very dry period in which the success of the reforestation depends largely on the monitoring of the planted plants. Natura 2000 has recently collaborated with various conservation associations, such as ARBA Extremadura and the Association of Friends of the Marco Riverbank, to carry out specific actions aimed at planting and restoring deforested areas along the Marco Riverbank, a highly sensitive area that historically served as a driving force for the agricultural and economic growth of the city of Cáceres.
With these types of actions, conservation organizations seek to draw the attention of the public and the public to the need to promote the protection of the Marco Riverbank and to undertake all kinds of actions to not only preserve it but also regenerate it."
