"The truth is that the interior of this building is surprising; on the outside it does not attract too much attention. The guided tour lasts 1 hour and the guide strives to make it enjoyable and interesting"
Verónica Deambulando con Artabria
"The old Ferrol Maritime Captaincy palace was built more than two centuries ago in the heart of the A Magdalena neighborhood. This large construction dominates the Ferrol estuary and the Arsenal from above, next to the Herrera gardens and the Parador de Turismo.
Its sober and imposing exterior contrasts with its sumptuous interior, with large rooms decorated with fine wood furniture, imposing lamps, carpets and many clocks. In its rooms hang works of art inventoried by the Prado Museum and transferred to Ferrol as a deposit. The most notable is the Throne Room, with a canopy and large curtains, the dining room, the mahogany imperial staircase and the blue room, with portraits of illustrious sailors such as Churruca, the hero of the Battle of Trafalgar.
The palace was occupied by Queen Isabel II, her husband and her son, the future Alfonso
It is currently the headquarters of the Ferrol Naval Archive."

"What we once called the Captaincy, because it was where the Captain General resided, is now known as the Captaincy Palace, thanks to its sumptuous spaces, furnishings, paintings, lamps, and history. A marvel worth seeing."
