"Casa Antón
Rúa Emilio Antón, 9, 15401 Ferrol, A Coruña
The Antón Villa, also known as the Antón Wooden House, is a modernist building located in the city of Ferrol (Galicia, Spain), designed in 1918 by the Galician architect Rodolfo Ucha Piñeiro. It is named after Emilio Antón Iboleón, a businessman and mayor of the city.
The building is entered through an Andalusian-style courtyard defined by a wrought iron fence and a tower with modernist decorations at the end. Three floors, the lower one with double openings and cement railings, and two other wrought iron balconies. The facade has a wooden belvedere with cornices and conical roofs in the corners.
The building originally consisted of a semi-basement, a ground floor, a first floor and a second roof. It is a very peculiar and original building that was used as a single-family house. He arranged the spatial distribution over three floors, with the ground floor for daytime living and the other two located above for nighttime living. Unique elements designed on the façade, such as the hexagonal viewpoints in the corners, the attic dormer or the pergola at the entrance, contribute to concretizing this originality in its modernist style. You can also see Indian details, such as the garden with stairs. However, the renovation carried out in 1960 "disfigured" its image and volume, adding another height and eliminating the interplay of roof and attic, original features that gave it a particular uniqueness. On the façade, the decoration of the windows stands out outside, in the openings, and especially in the dust covers and the lower part of the parapet. In particular, the hexagonal viewpoint located in the corner, with its large windows with wooden carpentry, is clearly modernist and is topped by a stylized spire. The entrance to the building is through a courtyard with a clear Andalusian inspiration, with the land that Emilio Antón wanted to remember his wife. The glass canopy mounted on wrought iron and the property's perimeter wall with elaborate buttresses and grilles are also striking.
The building belongs to the Historic Artistic Complex of the Magdalena Neighborhood and the Modernist Route of Ferrol."

"Old Anton house. It is now part of the facilities of the Las Disípulas de Jesús school. Well maintained facilities. Faithful reflection of the modernist style of the city. In its day it was a private chalet made, to order, by Rodolfo Ucha Piñeiro in 1918 for Emilio Anton who became mayor of Ferrol."

"A modernist building by Rodolfo Ucha, in the La Magdalena neighborhood, also a modernist building in Ferrol. Curious..."
