Reviews Summary

Reviews for Pont de Pedra are often confused with a restaurant of the same name, leading to mixed perceptions. While the bridge itself is a historic and picturesque landmark, some visitors note that other bridges offer more iconic views of Girona's colorful houses.

"THIS IS THE RESTAURANT

not the bridge. Stop being a ignorant tourist and rating it 5 stars.

The food was mediocre. Service was good. Great water. Definitely not a 4.5 star spot though."

Tyler Langer

"The Pont de Pedra means Bridge of Stone, which I guess aptly describes this bridge. It’s basically a triple arch stone bridge and one of the many bridges that span the River Onyar in Girona. The main reason to visit and cross the bridge is for the views of the river which is currently a sorry excuse of a river and for the colourful houses on either side of the riverfront.

Though out of all the briges that span the River Onyar in the old town, this is probably the least photogenic bridge and the least useful for getting those photogenic pictures of the colourful riverfront houses. If you pressed for time and want photos of the houses, use either Pont de les Peixateries Velles or Pont d'en Gómez."

"Decepcionante y caro. Tourist trap!“Vegetarian burger” is not a burger, is just a patty with some lettuce. Little amount of food.
Garbanzo with cod, barely any cod, mostly onions

Search for a Ramen restaurant across the street. Better price and looked delicious.

All the reviews for this place are for the street as a whole. Not this restaurant. Avoid unless you wanna be upset and still hungry"

Understanding the 'Pont de Pedra' Confusion

It's crucial to distinguish between the historic Pont de Pedra bridge and a restaurant bearing the same name. Many online reviews and ratings are mistakenly attributed to the bridge, leading to confusion about its quality and offerings. Travelers seeking the bridge should disregard reviews focused on food, service, or price, as these pertain to the eatery, not the landmark itself. Reddit

When researching, look for mentions of its triple-arched stone structure, its opening in 1856, and its role in linking neighborhoods across the Onyar River. This historical context will help you find relevant information and avoid the common pitfall of confusing the bridge with the restaurant. The bridge itself is a free, public monument, not a dining establishment.

Capturing Girona's Iconic Riverfront

Pont de Pedra offers a pleasant crossing and views of the Onyar River, but for the most iconic photographs of Girona's colorful houses, many visitors and locals recommend other bridges. Pont de les Peixateries Velles (the Eiffel Bridge) and Pont d'en Gómez are frequently cited as superior vantage points for capturing the vibrant facades that line the riverbanks. Reddit

These alternative bridges provide unobstructed views and often better framing for the picturesque scene. While crossing Pont de Pedra is a lovely experience, consider strolling along the riverbanks and utilizing these other bridges to get those postcard-perfect shots of Girona. The best light for these photos is typically during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset, offering a warm, inviting glow to the city's architecture.

Events and Local Culture on the Bridge

Pont de Pedra is more than just a crossing; it's a space that comes alive with local culture and events. The Fira d'Artesania (Craft Fair) is a significant annual event held on the bridge, celebrating its 30th anniversary. This fair highlights local craftsmanship, creativity, and popular culture, serving as a platform for artisans and promoting proximity economies. TikTok

During the Temps de Flors festival, the bridge and its surroundings are often adorned with beautiful floral arrangements, adding an extra layer of charm and color. Instagram Visiting during these events offers a unique opportunity to experience Girona's vibrant traditions and community spirit firsthand, transforming a simple bridge into a lively hub of activity.
