The next day, Amalio, carrying his club and some baskets, tried to position himself at the corner of the alley and overheard two guards guarding the house where the king was spending the night discussing a conversation. One told the other that the day before, he had met a young woman with a jug who was very beautiful and had fallen in love with her. The young woman, without further ado, had given him a kiss, according to the guard.
Another day, while he was in his usual spot, a couple passed by and stopped in front of him, and he heard her say that her husband asked her if she remembered that it was in that alley where they had had their first kiss.
On another occasion, while he was also in his usual place, a beautiful young woman approached him and wanted to buy one of the baskets, and good Amalio gave it to her. As he was heading home, the girl appeared again, telling him that he hadn't thanked her and approaching Amalio, she gave him two kisses.
However, the next morning the neighbors noticed that Amalio was not in his place and, surprised, they went to his house. When they entered his room, they found Amalio dead in his bed with his hand covered in blood and a writing made of esparto grass that read: The Alley of the Kiss.
From then on, this alley was called "The Alley of the Kiss" in Hellín."
