What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pueblo Canario is cherished by locals for its traditional Canarian architecture and cozy atmosphere, offering a peaceful spot for relaxation and dining. However, some visitors note a concerning state of neglect in certain areas, contrasting with the well-maintained Santa Catalina Hotel, and the prolonged closure of the Néstor Museum is a disappointment.
"Classic local place that everyone local has gone. Super cozy and children can run around"
Néstor Escandell
"I had fond memories from my visit here years ago; we revisited this charming spot at the end of April this year. It's a complex of houses that represent typical Canarian architecture. It also includes the Santa Catalina Hermitage and the Nestor Museum. To round out the visit, we went to see the gardens of the Santa Catalina Hotel. Definitely a corner of the city you should definitely make a note of when you visit."
Lluis Higini Melero Peris
"The deplorable state of neglect of this gem, so beloved by all residents and so visited by tourists, is a deplorable one. Our City Council hasn't had the time or budget in three consecutive terms to even minimally spruce up this proud and representative piece of traditional Canarian architecture. It's embarrassing to see part of the Hotel Santa Catalina just a few meters away, built in the same style, but fully restored and preserved, yet another example of the differences between public and private management. A heritage site left to its fate, and a Néstor Museum within the grounds has been closed for eight years (since 2017) for restoration work, with no progress on either construction or restoration. It's a shame that thousands and thousands of euros are spent on promotions, trips, trade shows, etc., and they can't afford to keep this gem in even a minimally decent condition."
