"It is now closed for renovations, but I liked this palace, estrada"
Borja Carsí Manrique
"Like so much of Spain's cultural heritage, this one, too, is in ruins. That doesn't mean it lacks charm, but better preservation or a comprehensive restoration would be appreciated to restore its splendor and give it a cultural, culinary, hotel, or other useful use, rather than leaving it abandoned."

Built in the late 17th century, this Baroque palace was constructed partly on Llanes' medieval walls. It was burned down in 1809 by Napoleonic troops and has been in ruins since, though it was cleared of weeds recently.
Notable residents included Don Juan Duque de Estrada, a knight involved in the Siege of Granada, as well as the Lords of Aguilar and the Counts of Vega del Sella.
The palace is primarily a Baroque structure from the 17th century, with remnants of earlier medieval construction visible.
The palace was burned down in 1809 by Napoleonic troops during the War of Independence. There are also local stories suggesting locals may have burned it in revenge for the Duque de Estrada family's aid to the French.
