"I am not really into embroidery and was just visiting to keep the wife happy. Well, I was absolutely gobsmacked by the beauty of the work here. We never knew you could make embroidery so realistic, even replicating the sheen off a persons face, as detailed as a painting. The painted dome was also equally impressive, Lorca’s own mini Sistine chapel.. It is well worth the entry fee of 3€ or 2 for 5€, even if the exhibits are quite limited in number."

"Wow, how good was this surprising museum. A real wow factor. Videos to show the fiestas and events the embroideries were used at. Often on horse back. Amazing colours and condition. This demonstrated the ongoing skills and expertise of the Spanish traditions and how important this is to the Spanish people. And then there is the chapel. The extra surprise, so amazing."

The 19th-century pieces, in particular, demonstrate a remarkable level of craftsmanship, with an almost photographic realism that has surprised many visitors. Reddit The intricate detail, the replication of textures, and the vibrant use of gold thread create a visual spectacle that transcends the typical perception of embroidery.

These embroideries are deeply intertwined with the traditions of Lorca, especially during its famous Easter celebrations. Videos within the museum often depict these vibrant events, showing how the capes and vestments are used in processions, often on horseback. Reddit This context highlights the living tradition and the importance of preserving these skills and the artistry they represent. The museum acts as a custodian of this unique Spanish heritage, offering a tangible connection to the past and its ongoing cultural relevance.

Even for those unfamiliar with embroidery, the sheer artistry and historical significance are compelling.
