What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Siete Cañadas Trail for its easy, family-friendly nature and stunning volcanic landscapes with constant views of Mount Teide. While the lack of shade and intense sun are noted drawbacks, the accessible terrain and unique geological features make it a highly recommended short hike for all ages.
"There is a really nice 8km circular hiking trail which starts here. It has 280m of elevation. It's very easy and family friendly. You will not notice the elevation at all and there are no dangerous or difficult parts. You get to see very interesting local volcanic nature. Some dark volcanic sands, as well as some nice views of Teide and the valley around it. We did this hike/walk in 2 hours. Definitely recommend to stop here."

"Long but easy walking trail. Beautiful nature and Teide during all walk. No water by the way. Nothing by the way. Vert strong sun!"
Anna Pavlenko
"Staff at the information center was very helpful, we planned our walk trip around, which was very beautiful. Hiking paths are easy to navigate. Toilets are clean. The tourist center itself is kind of old. It would be nice if it had some update (although we learned a lot about Teide)"

Exploring the Volcanic Wonderland
One of the most compelling aspects of this trail is the unobstructed views of Mount Teide, Spain's highest peak. Throughout your walk, the majestic volcano dominates the skyline, offering a constant, awe-inspiring backdrop. The lack of significant elevation gain means you can focus on soaking in the scenery and learning about the geological processes that formed this dramatic environment.
While the trail is family-friendly and doesn't present significant challenges, it's crucial to be prepared for the elements. The intense sun and lack of shade are the primary considerations. Visitors consistently emphasize the need for sun protection and ample water, as the exposed nature of the landscape means temperatures can rise quickly.
Practicalities for Your Hike
Footwear is important; while the trail is easy, the ground is uneven, consisting of volcanic sand and rock. Comfortable, sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots are highly recommended to ensure a pleasant experience. The duration of the hike is typically around two hours, allowing for a relaxed pace and plenty of photo opportunities.
For those looking for a different perspective, the surrounding roads are also popular for road cycling, offering a smooth surface and scenic views. However, for the trail itself, the focus is on walking and appreciating the unique natural environment. Remember to pack out everything you pack in to help preserve the pristine condition of this remarkable volcanic landscape.
