We enjoyed the hospitality, climate, food and location.
There's plenty to do whether for friends of nature, culture or culinary.
I just stayed for a long weekend, but we have decided to come back and stay for a week, to enjoy the beaches and leisure activities.
Thanks to the city and its people for making our stay so enjoyable 🫶🏼"

"Airport has air conditioning so waiting inside is very comfortable. Toilets are clean and in good shape. There are a lot of seats so you can find space to wait for the plane. The amount of restaurants and shops is sufficient so you can can buy whether you need to eat or drink. In addition you can find Spanish and local souvenirs. The security control is smooth and quick but more demanding than on Chopin Airport."

Navigating Malaga Airport: A Traveler's Perspective
However, a recurring point of frustration for some is the inefficiency at passport control. Reviews mention long queues and underutilized automated gates, leading to a 'chaotic' experience. Some travelers feel the airport's infrastructure, like non-functioning moving walkways, is not fully utilized, leading to a sense of wasted potential. Despite these criticisms, the airport's core functions are generally met, with security checks being smooth and efficient, albeit sometimes more demanding than at other European airports.
For families, AGP is often lauded as a fantastic introduction to the region. Its efficiency, cleanliness, and clear signage make navigating with children less stressful. The smooth process from deplaning to baggage claim, coupled with child-friendly dining options and entertaining runway views from lounges, contributes to a positive family travel experience.
Rental Car Advice for AGP
While companies with desks directly inside the airport terminal often command higher prices, they offer the convenience of immediate pick-up. For those looking for potentially better deals, consider booking with established providers like Enterprise, Hertz, or Avis in advance. Many travelers opt for 'pay-later' reservations, which allow you to secure a vehicle at a set price without immediate payment, offering flexibility and peace of mind.
When picking up your rental car, always inspect the vehicle thoroughly for any pre-existing damage and ensure it's documented on the rental agreement. Familiarize yourself with the local driving laws and road signs in Spain before you set off to ensure a smooth and safe journey through Andalusia.
Photography Opportunities at AGP
For those interested in aircraft photography, public areas overlooking the tarmac can offer views of planes. However, it's essential to be aware of airport security regulations. Avoid photographing sensitive areas like security checkpoints or personnel in detail. Always check for any posted signage regarding photography policies.
When planning your shots, consider bringing a versatile lens that can handle both wide architectural views and telephoto shots of aircraft. Extra batteries and memory cards are always a good idea for capturing those unexpected moments. Remember to be discreet and respectful of other travelers and airport operations.
