What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bodega de los Secretos offers a highly atmospheric dining experience in historic 17th-century cellars, praised for its romantic ambiance and unique setting. While the Mediterranean cuisine is generally good, with standout desserts, some diners have noted inconsistent execution on certain dishes like steak, and service can occasionally be slow.
"We went for dinner and we had an excellent experience.
The place has a distinctive atmosphere, being underground with some nice history to it, including being a bomb shelter during the Civil War.
Nice decor and ambience, although some of the spaces are a little big cramp if you are "big size" as I am.
The food was good, if not spectacular. Portions are on the small side but correct.
We started with a "Tomato Salad with Tuna Belly", very good dressing but not specially tasty tomatoes, except one variety; the rest were rather insipid, and some "Ham Croquettes" that were correct.
As main courses, we ordered "Beef tenderloin with our mushroom sauce and potatoes", meat correct, nice sauces, but not remarkable, and "Baked Butterfish Loin with zucchini and lime emulsion", that was surprising and tasty, just two small pieces, but it was the highlight of the meal for me.
As dessert, we ordered "Caramelised apple tarte tatin with cinnamon cream", nice and warm, nothing to critique here but it was shadowed by the "Three milks cake made by us" that was really awesome. They explained to us that the cake was prepared once by one of their cooks for an internal event and it became an instant hit and included in the restaurant menu."

"The food was outstanding & the vibe is very cool. The service was just okay. I don't mind it being slow, it comes with being in Europe, but I don't like not being attended to. Never gave me the wine I ordered, never refilled our water, never came by the table to check on us. It wasn't even busy which would make it more understandable.
Reservations recommended!"

"The best Restaurant in Madrid! I visited my girlfriend in Madrid and we went out for Dinner to nice Restaurants every day including Michelin Star restaurants. But this Rest was definetly my favorite! Perfect ambient for a date night! Very good service and incredible good food! Had the best beef Tartare ever there! A hood variety of Drinks as well! On top of that its very fair priced. 2 persons 1 appertizer and 8 Drinks ended up being below 100€ definitely recommend this place! I will 100% vome back next time in Madrid!"
