"24 groups self-manage this independent sociocultural center in the Chamberí neighborhood, which programs hundreds of free and open-access activities. Years ago, they organized these activities in a municipal building whose use had been granted to them by the previous city council, but this mayor expelled them in an attempt to stifle their work. Truly free activities are of no interest to the authorities, who are always praising the word "freedom" but who continue to censor and hinder the movement. Now, the center operates thanks to a tiny annual fee paid by all members, but the activities are, of course, open to everyone."

"It's a center that, over the past four years, has allowed our residents to participate in numerous cultural and social activities. The 24 diverse groups that comprise it have provided us, free of charge, with music, poetry, theater, the opportunity to meet and gather, to form a charity food pantry, three consumer groups, activities for children, and much more. Its continued existence is essential for Chamberí."
